SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The pairings for the 2016 Commonwealth Coast Conference Men's Soccer Tournament have been announced and Endicott College has claimed the top seed.
The Gulls, who were the 2015 CCC runner-up, enter the tournament with a n11-5-2 overall record and 8-1-0 mark in CCC play. Wentworth earns the second seed with an 11-3-4 overall record and was 7-1-1 in league play.
Defending champion Gordon is seeded third after a 6-2-1 CCC record (11-4-1 overall) while Western New England (9-9-0, 6-3-0) claims the fourth seed.
The top four seeds will host quarterfinal round games on Saturday as Endicott will entertain eighth-seeded Eastern Nazarene (6-10-2) at 4:30 p.m., Wentworth hosts seventh-seeded Curry (6-12-1) at Noon, Gordon hosts sixth-seeded Nichols (8-7-2) at Noon, and Western New England hosts fifth-seeded Roger Williams (6-11-2), also at Noon.
The winners of the quarterfinal matches will square off in the semifinal on Wednesday, Nov. 2. If Wentworth wins its quarterfinal match, the semifinal contest against either Gordon or Nichols will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.
Saturday will mark the 29th meeting all-time between the two schools with Wentworth holding a 19-9-1 advantage in the series. On Sept. 10, the two teams played to a 1-all tie. This marks just the second time in series history the two schools have met in the postseason as, on Oct. 24, Curry defeated the Leopards, 3-1.
