Baseball Doubles up St. Joseph's (Maine)
Trailing 5-1 entering the third inning, an eight-run frame lifted the Leopards to a 10-5 win; Matt Robinson, A.T. DiPina record two hits and two RBI apiece

STANDISH, Maine – Matt Robinson and A.T. DiPina each had a air of hits and two RBI as the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team upped its win streak to three with a 10-5 win over St. Joseph's (Maine) in non-confernece action Friday afternoon.
With the win the Leopards improve to 9-15 while the Monks fall to 13-15.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Devon Lapierre led off the game with a walk, sole second, and went to third after Robinson walked and was caught stealing at second base. Matthew Favazzo delivered a sacrifice fly which scored Lapierre and gave Wentworth a 1-0 lead. St. Joseph's took a 2-1 lead in the home half of the inning after Jack Carlisle hit a two-run home run.
- The Monks added to their lead, scoring three times in the bottom of the seventh. Michael Wearne had an RBI single while Carlisle hit a two-run double.
- Wentworth began to chip away at the lead in the fourth and scored eight times to lead, 9-5. DiPina led off the inning with a home run, Jake Samela drove in Christian Roncal who had singled, went to second on a wild pitch, and went to third on a passed ball Samela went to third on a Jake Prisco single and scored on an RBI single from Mike Sibert. Robinson scored Sibert and Prisco with a two-run double, while Favazzo drove in Lapierre with a sacrifice fly. DiPina and Cullinan followed with RBI singles.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Monks loaded the bases with one out. Connor Whitehead ended the threat by getting a fly out and a ground out.
- Samela led off the fifth with a double and went to third when Prisco grounded out. Sibert drove him in with a sacrifice bunt, making it 10-5.
- With zero outs in the eighth, St. Joseph's had runners on second and third. Matt Ferrara got two fly outs sandwiched around a strikeout to keep it a 10-5 game.
- In addition to Robinson and DiPina, Cullinan and Samela also had two hits apiece.
- Nick Tiani got the win (1-0) as nine different pitchers saw action for the Black & Gold. After the second inning, Wentworth's pitchers (Tiani, Whitehead, Ryan Chenard, Brandon Farinas, Jacob DeCoste, Ferrara, and Brady Aubuchon) allowed zero runs on six hits and had 10 strikeouts.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Wentworth has won all four series meetings between the two teams.
