DiPina's Five Hits Help Baseball Roll to Fourth Straight Win
A.T. DiPina went 5-for-5 as the Leopards scored 14 runs for the third straight game, defeating New England College, 14-4

BOSTON, Mass. – A.T. DiPina went 5-for-5 with three runs scored to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team roll to its fourth straight win with a 14-4 triumph over New England College in non-conference action Thursday night.
With the win the Leopards improve to 13-18 on the season while the Pilgrims fall to 7-25.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless first inning, Wentworth came across the plate four times in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. DiPina led off with a single and stole second. Nick Cullinan drove DiPina in with a single and went to third on a Christian Roncal double. Jake Prisco drove in Cullinan with an RBI single, and, on the play, an error allowed both Roncal and Prisco to score.
- With two outs in the third, DiPina singled and went to second when Cullinan walked. Both runners came around to score on a Roncal double, making it 6-0.
- The teams traded runs in the fourth as New England College got on the board on a Ryan Cote home run in the top of the inning, while Devon Lapierre singled in Mike Sibert, who had doubled and went to third on a wild pitch, to make it 7-1.
- New England College cut the lead to 7-4 in the seventh when Jackson Round had an RBI single and Jaken Pellerin scored on a passed ball.
- The Leopards used a four-run seventh to increase their lead to 11-4. Matthew Favazzo led off with a single and went to second on a DiPina single. Cullinan reached on a fielder's choice that saw DiPina get thrown out at second and Favazzo move to third. Caden Birtz came up with a pinch-hit, two-run single to score Cullinan and Favazzo. After Prisco was hit by a pitch to load the based. Alex Dayton lifted a sacrifice fly, which scored Roncal.
- Favazzo had a one-out single in the eighth and went to third on DiPina's fifth hit of the night. Cullinan reached on a fielder's choice which saw DiPina reach second on an error and Favazzo score. With two outs, Cullinan and DiPina advanced on a wild pitch and Birtz reached on an error that allowed them both to score.
- Michael Archambault picked up the win (1-2) as he allowed two runs on six hits and struck out four in six innings of work. Tucker Boys allowed a pair of runs (one earned) in an inning of work, while Bennett Leary allowed just one hit in a scoreless eighth, and Jacob DeCoste finished the game by setting down the side in the ninth.
- DiPina's five hits in a game ties him for the second most in a contest in program history. Roncal finished 2-for-3 (both doubles) with two RBI, while Favazzo was 2-for-4. Cullinan and Birtz also each drove in two runs.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today marked the 37th all-time meeting between the two teams and the first since the 2017 season. Winners of the last three meetings, Wentworth holds a 25-12 series advantage.
