Duo from Baseball Earns CNE Postseason Honors
First baseman Nick Cullinan named to the All-CNE Second Team; Brady Aubuchon selected as the Leopards' representative on the CNE Community Service Team
BEVERLY, Mass. – Announced by the Conference of New England league office on Wednesday afternoon, two student-athletes of the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team earned recognition from the conference in the form of postseason awards. For the first time in his career, first baseman Nick Cullinan was named All-CNE, being named to the conference's Second Team. Brady Aubuchon was nominated as the Leopards' representative on the inaugural CNE Community Service Team.
The postseason awards were voted on by the league's nine head coaches prior to the start of the conference tournament.
Cullinan was among the Leopards' most efficient performers on both sides of the ball, placing second on the team with his .340 batting average and holding a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage (206 total chances) despite appearing in just 27 games. Featured in his 35 total hits was a slugging percentage of .417 and five extra base hits.
In 62 career games played, Cullinan sports a .308 average on 65 hits, featuring 37 runs scored and 33 RBI. The Sandy Hook, Conn. native holds a .988 career fielding percentage (251 total chances).
Aubuchon represents Wentworth on the CNE Community Service Team, wearing many hats for the team that feature serving as a team captain, a social media chair for both the team and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and a member of the leadership group in the Leopards' Team Impact efforts. The senior led the charge of organizing and carrying out many promotional games for the Black & Gold, highlighted with their Autism Awareness doubleheader against Suffolk.
The Black & Gold narrowly missed the CNE Tournament this season, going 15-22 overall and 5-11 in conference play.
