Baseball Tripped Up by Gordon
The Leopards fall to the Fighting Scots in a CNE clash on Tuesday night

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team fell to the Gordon Fighting Scots 10-4 in a Conference of New England battle on Tuesday night. Cyle Archer went 3-5 with one run while Christian Roncal went 2-4 with two RBI. Tommy Crowley falls to 1-3 this season after 3.0 innings with three earned runs and four strikeouts. Cooper Smith threw 1.2 innings and struck out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Leopards got on the board in the first inning after Matthew Favazzo was hit by a pitch to score Archer. Josh Turcotte's sacrifice fly scored Matt Robinson and gave Wentworth a 2-0 advantage.
- Gordon answered in the third inning with Blake King's RBI single getting the visitors on the board. Gabe Fales followed with a double to left center, scoring two runs and putting the Fighting Scots in front 3-2 through three frames.
- The visitors added to their lead in the fifth inning with Tyler Wilson's RBI single making it 4-2. Two runs came in to score after a walk and a hit by pitch, pushing Gordon's lead to four. A single up the middle from Carter Shin brought in two more and Gordon led 8-2 through five innings.
- Wentworth cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Roncal's single to right field scored two runs to make it an 8-4 game. Shin's RBI single in the top of the seventh inning put Gordon in front by five runs heading into the eighth.
- The Fighting Scots added to their lead in the eighth inning after Wilson's triple down the right field line scored the visitors' 10th run of the game.
- The Leopards could not cut into the lead and the game moved to the ninth inning with Gordon in front 10-4. Wentworth went down in order in the ninth and fell to the Fighting Scots.

- Today was the 72nd all-time meeting between the teams.
