Mannke Leads Men’s Basketball Over Johnson & Wales
Colin Mannke drops 26 points, shooting 10-18 from the field, and grabs a team-high 9 rebounds

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Colin Mannke led the Leopards to victory over Johnson & Wales with 26 points and nine rebounds, shooting 10-18 from the field and 5-8 from three. Donovan Holway added 11 points, three rebounds, and two blocks. Jayden Williams scored 10 points while Davis Lunn dished out a team-high five assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mannke got going early, hitting a three to get the Leopards on the board. Alvin Baez hit a layup to give the hosts a 10-6 lead five minutes into the half before calling a timeout. The Wildcats extended their lead to 10 points after Azariah Harrison completed a four-point play with 12:45 to play in the half. Aiden Flaherty's hook shot and another three from Mannke cut the deficit to 18-14 before Sila Sawtelle's layup ended the run. Mannke and Williams combined for five points to even the score at 22-all before Mannke's driving layup gave Wentworth the lead.
- Back-to-back buckets from Chase Mello kept the Leopards in front by foyr with 5:47 left in the half. Mannke and Russel Dolbany scored back-to-back threes to give Wentworth a nine-point edge with just over three and a half minutes to play. The Leopards stayed hot from behind the arc as Dylan Olson drained a three in the final minutes and sent the visitors into the half with a 41-32 lead.
- The Wildcats scored twice and kept Wentworth off the board in the first two and a half minutes of the second half, cutting the lead to five. Out of the Leopards' timeout, Holway completed a three-point play for the first points of the half. Mello again scored two quick buckets, pushing the Wentworth lead back to nine points. Johnson & Wales battled back to tie game at 52-all.
- Williams hit a pair of free throws, putting Wentworth back in front before the sides went three minutes without a score. The Leopards held off a surge from the Wildcats and got breathing room from another Mannke three. Holway hit two free throws and added a layup to extend the lead to 13 with 2:34 to play. Lunn hit a three in the final minute as Wentworth secured the 75-65 win.
THE SERIES
- Tonight was the second all-time meeting between the teams. Wentworth won the first matchup earlier this season, 89-56.
