BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's basketball team celebrated senior day, recognizing seniors Russel Dolabany, Dylan Olson, and Mike Yentin before the game for their contributions to the program over the last four years. Davis Lunn led the way with 11 points while Dolabany scored nine points. Jayden Williams added eight points and four rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Western New England went on an 11-0 run to open the game thanks to eight points from Avery Mickens and a three from Matt Houde. Colin Mannke hit one of two from the line and Mickens hit another three to push the lead to thirteen. Williams and Lunn hit threes to cut into the lead, but the Leopards trailed at the midway mark of the first half.
- The visitors built a 10-point lead, but threes from Dolabany and Lunn cut the deficit down to six with 6:46 to play in the half. A tough three-point play from Dolabany got the Leopards within three before a pair of free throws from Chase Mello made it a 22-21 game. Buckets from Luka Vlajkovic and Eddie McCoy put the Golden Bears in front by six as the Leopards went cold from the floor. Andy Weeman hit a three and one of two from the line in the final minutes and Western New England took a 37-25 lead into the break.
- Wentworth was held off the board for the first four and a half minutes of the half while the Golden Bears built their lead to 20 points. Mannke's free throws broke the scoring drought just before Williams finished a nice layup. Lunn's three-point play and another three from Weeman made it 55-38 at the midway point of the second half.
- Houde and Mickens hit threes to extend the lead for the visitors, putting them in control in the final minutes of the game. Wentworth went nearly four minutes without a field goal until Yentin's layup broke the scoring drought. Dolabany and Mello added points down the stretch and Western New England won comfortably, 80-48.
