Skylur Jameson Named Academic All-District
Senior forward honored for his career on the ice and in the classroom as he becomes the 15th student-athlete to earn Academic All-District honors
BOSTON, Mass. – Four-time All-ECAC Northeast honoree Skylur Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) has become the 15th student-athlete in Wentworth history to be honored for academics and athletics as he was named to the Capital One Academic All-District I Division III At-Large first team on Thursday.
Jameson, a two-year captain for the Leopard skaters, helped the Black & Gold win their first ECAC Northeast title since 2004 this past season as he scored 10 goals and assisted on 23 others for 33 points. Half of his goals came on the power play and he had two game-winning tallies. This year's Leopards also became the first team in school history to win an NCAA Tournament game when they defeated Plymouth State, 3-1, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Norwich, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round. Wentworth finished the season 21-7-1, which included a school-record 11-game win streak from January 26-March 10.
During his stellar career at Wentworth, he was named the 2009 ECAC Northeast Rookie of the Year and the 2010 ECAC Northeast Player of the Year, in addition to being named First Team All-ECAC Northeast in each of his four seasons. He leaves the program having played in 107 of a possible 109 games, scoring 67 goals and 92 assists for 159 points. Both his 159 points and 92 assists rank him second on the program's all-time list, while his 67 goals rank him fifth. He also posted the second highest single-season totals for assists (29) and points (48) during his rookie campaign. Jameson was twice (2011, 2012) named a semifinalist for the Joe Concannon Award, an award that honors the top American-born ice hockey player in New England at Division II/III level
Sporting a 3.72 grade point average in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Jameson joins other first team honorees from seven other districts across the country on the national ballot. The Capital One Academic All‐America® Team (consisting of a first, third, and second team) will be announced on Tuesday, June 5. If selected, Jameson would become the ninth Academic All-America in Wentworth history. A full list of Wentworth previous Academic All-District and Academic All-America honorees can be found here.
