Men’s Ice Hockey Participates in Movember
The Wentworth Institute of Technology men’s ice hockey team participated in Movember, growing facial hair and raising money for men’s mental and physical health awareness.
BOSTON, Mass. – During the month of November, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's hockey team participated in Movember, with the goal of promoting a safe and welcoming environment for men to speak up about mental health struggles and check in with one another. The foundation focuses on three important areas; mental health and suicide prevent, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Since 2003, Movember has funded over 1,250 men's health projects across the globe, transforming the way health services reach and support men.
"The Movember Foundation is more than a fundraiser — it's a movement that challenges the stigma around men's health," said men's ice hockey captain Ian Worthley. "It teaches us as student-athletes that strength isn't just physical — real strength is checking in on each other, speaking up, and taking action."
Worthley and his teammates feel that Movember is a chance to step up and be a resource for each other, supporting friends, family, and teammates through the challenges they may face.
"For us as student-athletes, Movember is an opportunity to lead by example. We learn that mental health and cancer affect real people — teammates, family members, and friends," added Worthley. "Growing a mustache may seem small, but the conversations it starts can change someone's life. On and off the ice, Movember reminds us that no one fights alone."
The Leopards surpassed their 2025 goal, donating all funds to the cause. For more information on how to donate and get involved in Movember, visit https://us.movember.com.
