Vogt's Overtime Heroics Lift Men's Lacrosse over Hartford
Erik Vogt scores just over a minute into the extra session to lift Leopards to 10-9 edge over Hawks; Tom Gardner makes 20 saves in goal

BOSTON, Mass. – Erik Vogt of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team played overtime hero in Conference of New England play Tuesday afternoon, scoring just over a minute into the extra session to earn the Black & Gold a 10-9 triumph over Hartford.
With the win, the Leopards improve to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the CNE. The Hawks fall to 8-6 overall (5-2 CNE).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In a tightly-contested opening frame, the Hawks pushed their lead to 2-0 with an early tally (11:06) and another in the late going (1:15). In the second quarter, the Leopards rallied, first dwindling the score to 2-1 on a goal by Vogt at the 14:15 mark. Tyler Longo (7:05) knotted the score at two aside before Drew Bouley (4:35) and Dryden Fisher (3:30) each potted one each to give the Black & Gold a 4-2 lead late going into the half.
- Shaun Wright tallied for Hartford just under four minutes into the third quarter, cutting their deficit to 4-3. Bouley rippled twine to push Wentworth's lead to 5-3 at the 9:35 mark before the Hawks rattled off four straight goals, with Wright factoring in on three of them, to take a 7-5 lead by the 3:13 mark. Brendan Kroll (1:09) and Kobi Buffa (:10) scored in the late going to mark a 7-7 tie by quarter's end.
- The Hawks scored twice in the opening 4:23 of the fourth frame, giving themselves a 9-7 lead. From there, Gabe Cobham tallied at the 5:56 mark to cut Wentworth's deficit to one before Longo tied the score at 9-all with just 15 ticks on the clock, forcing the afternoon to an extra session.
- After a failed attempt to capitalize for the Hawks, the Leopards gained a successful clear. From there, a shot attempt was fended off by Hartford before Vogt scooped up the loose ground ball and potted the rock to secure the win at the 2:38 mark.
- In goal, Tom Gardner earned his 11th win of the season behind 20 saves and three ground balls. At the X, Connor Charron went 8-for-22 with three ground balls.
SERIES NOTES:
- The two teams' first-ever meeting was last season, a quadruple-overtime win for the Black & Gold (11-10).
