Gardner Named CNE Defensive Player of the Week
Tom Gardner picks up his second accolade of the season, helping the Leopards to wins over Hartford and Gordon
BEVERLY, Mass. – Continuing his stretch as one of the top goalkeepers in the league, Tom Gardner of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team earned recognition from the Conference of New England in the form of a weekly award. Gardner was named the CNE Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, with the award accounting for games played between April 14 – 20.
Gardner was pivotal in a 10-9 overtime clip over Hartford, making 20 saves on 29 shots while collecting three ground balls. In three quarters of play against Gordon, he made seven saves on 10 shots en route to a 16-6 triumph.
On the season, Gardner leads the CNE with his .620 save percentage. The senior's 8.44 goals against average ranks second while his 12.75 saves per game ranks fourth.
