Men’s Lacrosse Caps Historic Season in CNE Championship, Falls to Endicott
Leopards close out most successful season in program history, fall to Gulls 17-5; first-ever appearance in championship game
BEVERLY, Mass. – A strong first-half performance, featuring a 14-1 run that spanned a third of the way into the second quarter, paced the top-seeded Endicott Gulls men's lacrosse team to a 17-5 win over second-seeded Wentworth Institute of Technology in the Conference of New England Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Leopards, who appeared in their first-ever conference title match this afternoon, close their most successful season in program history with a 14-5 overall mark. The Gulls clinch a spot in the upcoming NCAA Tournament with their championship triumph, currently holding a 15-3 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Blue & Green wasted little time gaining a sizeable lead, holding a 7-0 lead by the 3:44 mark of the first quarter on a pair of goals apiece by Cam Fernandez and Ethan Cupples. Brendan Kroll struck for the Black & Gold at the 2:30 mark, cutting the Leopards' deficit by one.
- After Endicott added another tally towards the end of the first frame, the hosts extended their advantage to 14-1 by the 9:06 mark of the second quarter with a 6-0 run that featured goals from six different Gulls. Kroll (6:27) and Tyler Longo (4:38) rippled twine for the Leopards in the late going, marking a 14-3 game at the half.
- Nick Graap scored twice for the Gulls in a 3-0 run that spanned across the third and some of the fourth quarter, giving Endicott a 17-3 lead. With the man-up, Jared Hiller struck for Wentworth at the 5:57 mark before Kobi Buffa made it a 17-5 game with 59 ticks left.
- Between the pipes, Tom Gardner made 21 saves, tied for his second-highest total in a single game, and notched an assist along with a ground ball. Connor Charron (5-for-16, four ground balls) and Liam Martin (3-for-10, one ground ball) led Wentworth's efforts at the X.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Paced by a 7-1 record at home and a 6-2 record in conference play, the Leopards posted their winningest season in program history with 14 wins.
- Charron caps his illustrious career as the program's all-time leader in ground balls with 390.
- After being named the 2025 CNE Goalkeeper of the Year earlier this week, Gardner closes his career second all-time in the Leopards' win totals with 27. His 14-win season this year is a program-best mark.
- Drew Bouley caps his career fourth all-time in total points with 172. Dryden Fisher makes his 72nd appearance for the Black & Gold, marking the most games played by any one Leopard all-time.
- Erik Vogt posted the fifth-highest mark of points in a single season (70) and sixth highest of goals (44).
