Springfield Holds Off Men's Soccer
Pride strike twice int he first half and hold on for a 2-1 win; Brady Erickson records his first collegiate goal

BOSTON, Mass. – Robby Herrera tallied a pair of first half goals as the Springfield college men's soccer team held on to defeat Wentworth Institute of Technology, 2-1, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Pride improves to 2-1-0 while the Leopards fall to 0-2-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth nearly took a 1-0 lead in early in the 16th minute. Kingston McGeee put a shot on net that was saved by Noah Pote. The rebound came out to David Lemus whose bid went just wide of the mark.
- At the 25:29 mark, Springfield took a 1-0 lead as Aidan Hallinan fed Herrera who put a shot in the upper left corner.
- Nearly eight and a half minutes later, Herrera put the Pride on top, 2-0, as Talan Bradley fed Parker Gustine up top. Gustine found Herrera streaking towards the net and sent a pass through the box.
- In the 42nd minute, the Leopards nearly got on the board when Danny Perez's shot was saved by Pete.
- Early in the second half, a foul on Springfield led to a free kick. Zachary Redondo eventually gained possession for the Black & Gold and fired a shot that was blocked. Brady Erickson scooped up the rebound and scored his first collegiate goal.
- Dylan Michaud almost tied the game in the 85th minute when he put a shot on the mark but Pote came out to make the stop.
- Pote made five saves in the win. Isaac Chambass, in his collegiate debut, made seven stops for Wentworth. Springfield had a 20-18 shot advantage and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today was the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams.
