McGee's Heroics Earns Men's Soccer a Tie Against Emerson

Kingston McGee scores with two seconds left to help the Leopards and Lions play to a 1-all draw

BOSTON, Mass. – Kingston McGee's goal with two seconds remaining gave the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team the equalizer as the Leopards tied Emerson, 1-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

With the win the Leopards stand at 0-2-3 while the Lions are 1-0-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The teams traded shot attempts early on  with Wentworth's Isaac Chambass coming up with a pair of saves in the first 17:33.
  • With 43 seconds left in the half, Vinny Dentrone took a shot that was saved by Emerson's Asa Roberts. The rebound went out of bounds, resulting in a Leopard corner kick but Wentworth was unable to generate another scoring chance prior to the half ending.
  • Emerson applied pressure early in the second half, putting three shots on target in a span of 6:36 but Chambass stood tall, denying each opportunity.
  • With 7:37 left, the hosts broke the ice as Nick Mirogiannis scored after Emerson had possession off a Wentworth foul.
  • At 89:07, David Lemus put a shot on net for the Black & Gold that was saved by Roberts. The Leopards controlled possession, which led to Younes Henniche sending a ball to Angel Rojas, who found McGee for his second marker of the season, just before time expired.
  • Chambass made eight saves on the night. Emerson had a 16-11 shot advantage and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.

ALL-TIME SERIES:

  • Tonight was the seventh all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth leads, 3-2-2.
