MILTON, Mass. – Three unanswered goals by the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team gave the Leopards their first triumph of the season as Wentworth defeated Curry, 3-1, in Conference of New England play on Saturday morning.
With the win the Leopards improve to 1-4-3 overall and 1-1 in CNE play while the Colonels fall to 1-5-2 (0-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- An early shot attempt by Wentworth was high of the mark, which eventually led to Curry getting on the board first as Lucas Drons scored just 3:50 into the contest to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
- At the 14:23 mark, the Black & Gold got on the board as a Colonel misplay in the defensive end wound up in the back of the net for an own goal, evening the score at 1-all.
- In the 27th minute, Alex Burnham and Adam Robertson each had chances to give Wentworth the lead but their shots were saved by Curry's Brendan Cunningham.
- A header attempt by Ethan Trejo with 1:40 left in the frame was also saved by Cunningham, keeping the game tied at the half.
- Kingston McGee gave Wentworth a 2-1 lead when he scored at the 48:44 mark on the first shot attempt of the half.
- Wentworth carried play throughout the remainder of the half and added to its lead at the 85:18 mark when Angel Rojas fed Dylan Michaud, making it 3-1.
- Isaac Chambass made two saves for Wentworth who had a 21-10 shot advantage and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today marked the 38th all-time meeting between the teams. Winners of the last two meetings, Wentworth owns a 25-11-2 mark all-time.
