BOSTON, Mass. – A pair of goals from Tyler Lewis helped lift the Western New England University men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Conference of New England action Saturday afternoon..
With the win the Golden Bears improve to 7-7-1 overall and 6-2 in CNE play while the Leopards fall to 3-9-4 (2-5).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Western New England had an early shot on net that was saved by Isaac Chambass and had three corner kicks in a span of 31 seconds shortly thereafter.
- Wentworth's first shot attempt came on a bid from Zachary Rendondo from right in front that was saved.
- At the 18:16 mark, Lewis put the Golden Bears on the board after he took a pass from Shay O'Neill and put a shot to the upper left corner.
- The Leopards had a pair of chances late in the first half, however, both attempts were blocked.
- Lewis put the Golden Bears ahead, 2-0, at the 57:00 mark when he took a pass from Cole Casinghino across the box and scored his eighth goal of the season to the lower right side.
- Western New England upped its lead to 3-0 at the 64:50 mark as Marcus Josji slid a pass low across the box where Owen Dieterle deflected the ball in.
- With 9:34 left in the contest, Mustafa Hassan put the hosts on the board as Younes Henniche sent a pass through the box where Hassan buried the shot to the left side.
- Isaac Chambass made four saves for Wentworth.
