ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team opened its spring campaign with a 9-0 loss to Wabash on Monday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- While Wabash took all three doubles matches, senior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey City, Mexico) and junior Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) were close at No. 1 doubles, losing 8-4, while freshman Manas Arya (Hessen, Germany) and sophomore Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) were defeated at No. 2 by the same score.
- Two of the six singles matches went to three sets. At No. 3, Marwaha was defeated, 3-6, 6-4 (8-10), while Arya was topped at No. 4, 6-1, 4-6 (6-10).
- Gallegos took his first set at No. 1 to tiebreaker, losing 6-7 (6-8) and then 2-6 in the second set and sophomore James Weete (Dover, N.H.) dropped the first set at No. 6 before forcing a tiebreaker in the second set before falling, 6-7 (5-7).
