Two First-Place Finishes Help Men's Outdoor Track & Field at Tufts Sunshine Invitational
A pair of first-place finishes , which included one of four program records set, helped the Leopards in their final tune-up before the conference championships next weekend
MEDFORD, Mass. – Ryan Ballard picked up a first-place finish in the 1500M and Nate Muller added another first-place finish in the pole vault as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's outdoor track & field team competed at the Tufts Sunshine Invitational. This was the Leopards' final tune-up before next weekend's Conference of New England Championship.
The non-scoring meet also featured four program-records set by Wentworth.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gabe Silva broke his own record in the 100M, finishing sixth with a time of 11.16.
- Scott Stehlik also broke his own record competing in the 200M, crossing he line with a time of 22.53, which placed him 10th.
- Dominic Simpri had a top jump of 1.90M in the high jump to break the program record an also qualify for the Division III New England Championships. This jump placed him fourth in the meet.
- The 4X100M relay team of Silva, Will Stewart, Ryan Abbotoni, and Stehlik had a third-place finish with a program-best time of 43.19.
- Ballard's winning time of 4:00.71 in the 1500M also earned him a spot at the Division III New England Championships.
- Ezra Blasko placed fourth in the 5000M with a time of 16:04.00.
- Oliver Bishop placed fourth in the 110M hurdles, finishing with a time of 15.85.
- Muller's winning vault was 4.40M, with Owen Moriarty finishing second (3.95M).
- Fabrice Fouron punched his ticket to the Division III New England Championships with a third-place finish in the triple jump (13.21M).
- Julian Sacca finished fifth in both the shot put (13.39M) and the discus (38.88M).
