Smith Highlights Men’s Outdoor Track & Field’s CNE Postseason Honors
Nathaniel Smith named CNE Scholar-Athlete of the Year; Leopards don eight all-conference honorees
BEVERLY, Mass. – Announced by the Conference of New England league office on Wednesday afternoon, 10 student-athletes from the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's outdoor track and field team were recognized by the league in the form of postseason accolades. Leading the way for the Leopards was Nathaniel Smith who was named the CNE Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Smith's nod as the conference's Scholar-Athlete comes on the heels of a 3.942 grade-point-average, working towards his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. The senior took part in two events at the conference championship last weekend, finishing seventh in the high jump before chipping in to a sixth-place finish in the 4x400M relay.
Six student-athletes earned all-conference recognition for the Black & Gold. All-CNE performers were determined by performance at the league championship, with first place earning first team honors, second place earning second team honors, and third place picking up third team honors.

In addition to the conference's postseason honorees, Robbie McCue was selected as the Leopards' rep on the CNE Community Service Team. McCue does volunteer work with a Shot for Life, a non-profit organization that utilizes sporting events to raise money towards cancer research. The senior is leaned upon as a leader for the Leopards, always visible and willing to help the team.
