Men's Indoor Track & Field has Strong Showing at Massasoit Classic
Leopards post numerous top 10 finishes, highlighted by Oliver Bishop winning the 600M and Ryan Ballard winning the 800M

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Paced by 20 top-10 finishes, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's indoor track & field team had a strong performance at the Massasoit Classic, which was run at Spring College on Saturday. Leading the way for the Leopards were Ryan Ballard and Oliver Bishop who placed first in the 800M and 600M, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the 60M dash, Jace Matthew placed fifth in the preliminaries with a time of 7.16 seconds. Advancing to the finals, he ran a time of 7.18 to finish fourth.
- Matt Murphy took home an eighth-place finish in the 400M, running a time of 53.99,
- Bishop collected first in the 600M with a time of 1:30.10, with Ballard notching a first-place finish for the second meet in a row, taking home the 800M with a time of 2:00.20. Also in the 800M, Jack Newton was third with a time of 2:03.10.
- Wentworth placed three runners among the top 10 in the 1000M as Dylan Brilliant was fifth (2:44.48), Hayden Pierce was eighth (3:01.31), and Brendan Purvis was 10th (3:09.11).
- The Black & Gold had two in the top 10 in the mile as Ezra Blasko ran a time of 4:27.81 to place third and Evan McIntire was ninth (4:48.38).
- In the 60M hurdles preliminaries, Bishop qualified for the finals by placing eighth in the preliminaries with a time of 8.98 seconds. He shaved a tenth of a second off that time in the finals, finishing seventh (8.88).
- Wentworth's 4X400M relay squad of Ballard, Brilliant, Newton, and Jacob Thomas were seventh with a time of 3:46.66.
- Dominic Simpri placed fourth in the high jump (1.82M).
- Owen Moriarty and Matthew placed fourth (4.30M) and fifth (4.00M), respectively, in the pole vault.
- The Leopards had two among the top 10 in the triple jump as Tyler Le was sixth (12.33M) and Amir Bahador was eighth (12.15M).
- Julian Sacca posted a second-place finish in the shot put with a top throw of 13.76M while Joe Packowski was sixth (12.63M).
