Men’s Track & Field Has Strong Outing at CNE Championships
Leopards place fourth at Conference of New England Championship
WENHAM, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's track & field team finished fourth at the Conference of New England Championship for the second straight season. The Leopards won the 800m and the 1500m run and earned multiple top ten finishes.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Senior Ryan Ballard won the 1500m run with a time of 3:57.17.

In the 800m run, the Leopards claimed the top two spots on the podium with Junior Jack Newton winning the event in a time of 1:55.86, and Senior Ryan Ballard finishing second in a time of 1:58.36

Jack Newton earned his second top ten finish of the meet in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing 5th in a time of 59.04

Sophomore Theodore Doyle placed second in the Steeplechase with a time of 9:54.44

In the 5000m run, sophomore Ezra Blasko finished second with a time of 14:57.95, and classmate Teddy Doyle finished fourth with a time of 15:38.19

Sophomore Oliver Bishop took 6th in the 110 hurdles (16:16) and 10th in the 400m dash (52.10)

In the 200m dash, the Leopards had two athletes grab top ten finishes, senior William Stewart placed 8th with a time of 23:43 and junior Gabriel Silva finished 9th with a time of 23:47.

In the men's 4X100 relay, the Leopards finished 7th. Kevin DeCollibus, William Stewart, Gabriel Silva, and Sincere Duffaut finished in a time of 44.24

In the throws, multiple Leopards had top ten finishes. Sophomore Joe Packowski finished 3rd in the javelin throwing 50.08 meters, and finished 6th in the shot put with a throw of 13.14 meters.

Freshman Nicholas Franqui finished 10th in the hammer throw with a throw of 33.21meters.

In the jumps, two Leopards recorded top ten finishes. Owen Moriarty placed second in the pole vault with a jump of 4.25 meters, and Freshman Jace Matthew placed third with a jump of 4.10 meters. Sophomore Dominic Simpri finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.85 meters, and freshman Tyler Le rounded out the top 10 finishes in the Triple Jump with a jump of 12.12 meters.
