Adams, Oshman, and LaBouliere Named to AVCA All-Region Team
The three Leopards earned all-region honors in the northeast, helping Wentworth to its fourth GNAC Championship.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-region team, as announced by the association. Senior setter Connor Adams (Budd Lake, N.J.), sophomore outside hitter Jacob LaBouliere (Pipersville, Pa.), and junior right-side hitter Hunter Oshman (Pennington, N.J.) were named all-region for the Leopards this year, as Wentworth finished first in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.
Adams, who led the GNAC in assists per set (9.45) and was ranked 11th in the country in that category, was named First-Team All-Conference in the GNAC. He was also named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team, helping the Leopards to their third GNAC Championship and fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Oshman was named 2020 GNAC Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-Conference, and followed that up with a Second-Team All-Conference selection this year. He too was named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team, picking up 24 kills and 12 digs in two conference tournament matches.
LaBouliere, one of only two underclassmen to be named all-region in the northeast, was named GNAC Player of the Year and a was a First-Team All-Conference selection. He was named MVP of the GNAC Tournament, putting down 23 kills, six digs, four service aces, and three blocks in the GNAC Championship. The sophomore set a new program record with 391 kills on the year, averaging 4.26 kills per set to lead the conference and rank him seventh in the country. He also led the GNAC while ranking ninth nationally in hitting percentage, connecting at a .440 clip on the year. LaBouliere was twice named AVCA Player of the Week this year, one of only two players in the country to win the award multiple times.
The Leopards compete in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday, April 15, as they are in Newark, N.J. to take on St. John Fisher College. The match is scheduled to get underway at 6:30 p.m.
