#13 Men’s Volleyball Eases Past Emerson for Seventh Straight Win
Gabe Tucker led the way with 9 kills to give the Black & Gold their seventh consecutive win

BOSTON, Mass. – The #13 Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team defeated the Emerson Lions in four sets on Thursday night. Gabe Tucker led the way with nine kills and added three aces and five blocks. William Biggs tallied eight kills on 11 swings and Temmy Argynbay dished out 21 assists. Kyle Antoine and Kaine Than made their debuts for the Leopards and tallied three kills and six digs, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benjamin Moughon opened the first set with a kill, and several attack errors gave Wentworth a 4-0 lead. Emerson battled back to make it an 8-5 game, but the Leopards responded with a 7-3 run behind kills from Tucker and aces from Moughon and Tony Kowalewski.
- Tucker added another finish and the Lions' offense committed more errors to give Wentworth a 23-9 advantage. Antoine entered the game and tallied his first two career kills, giving the Leopards a 25-13 win in set one.
- Luke McQuaid and Caleb Harrison combined for the first three points of set two as Wentworth took the lead to open the frame. Emerson made it 5-3 before Tucker's finish gave the Leopards the serve. Tucker then tallied back-to-back aces to extend the lead to 8-3. An ace from Kowalewski and a kill from McQuaid pushed the lead to nine points.
- Wentworth maintained their lead with Harrison's finish giving the Leopards a 19-11 lead. Saurab Anjanapa and Kowalewski added finishes late before Antoine's strong kill gave the Leopards a 25-16 win and 2-0 lead in the match.
- Emerson battled back into the game in the third set, building a 7-4 lead to open the frame. Riley Goldman and Cash Muse combined to keep the Lions in front 14-10. McQuaid and Tucker added to their tallies but finishes from Mario Cielo-Salina and Cade Ott kept the visitors in front by two. Emerson held off a late surge from Wentworth to take the third frame 25-22.
- After Goldman gave Emerson a 1-0 lead, Wentworth answered with a 15-1 run behind kills from Matthew Zegowitz and four aces from Conner Foxwell. Biggs tallied another kill to make it 17-5 as the Leopards were in complete control.
- Moughon and Biggs gave Wentworth a 23-8 lead before Dylan Johnson entered the game late. Johnson tallied back-to-back kills to close the set 25-9 and give the Leopards the 3-1 victory.
THE SERIES
- Tonight was the 32nd all-time meeting between the teams.
