Green Headlines Men’s Volleyball’s Seven GNAC Postseason Awards
The Black & Gold bring in seven awards, including Brayden Green earning Setter of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors
WINTHROP, Mass. – After another strong season from the nationally ranked Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team, six players earn Great Northeast Athletic Conference honors, as announced by the league office on Sunday.
Brayden Green was named the GNAC Setter of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference honors while Alem Dubcak and Conner Foxwell were also First Team All-Conference selections. Nicolai Bell and Mekhi Burns earn spots on the All-GNAC Second Team and William Biggs represents the Black & Gold on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Green has been one of the most consistent players for the Leopards and a top setter in the conference all season. He tallied a total of 658 assists in the 21 matches during the regular season, playing in 79 sets. With 8.33 assists per set, he is second in the conference. Green added 16 kills and 34.5 points during the regular season.
Dubcak has proven to be a major player for Wentworth and one of the most dangerous hitters in the conference. He has totaled 222 kills in 19 matches, featuring in 68 sets. He averaged 3.26 kills per set, good for fourth in the GNAC. Dubcak hit .271 over the course of the season with 258.0 points and added nine assists.
Foxwell was the Leopards' most efficient hitter and a key figure in the offense. He finished the regular season hitting .384, second in the conference. He featured in 20 matches and 69 sets while tallying 117 kills and 160.0 points. Foxwell added 57 total blocks and sat fifth in the league with 0.83 blocks per set. He also tallied five assists. This is his third GNAC all-conference honor.
Bell has been a strong presence at the net for the Leopards this season. He has seen action in 18 matches this season, playing in 63 sets. He tallied 92 kills, averaging 1.46 kills per set and hit .384 with 131.0 points during the regular season. This is his third GNAC all-conference honor.
Burns has been a key defensive factor for Wentworth throughout the season. He's played in 23 matches and 80 sets as the Leopards' libero. The junior tallied 122 digs and averaged 1.52 digs per set while dishing out 23 assists. This is his third GNAC all-conference honor.
Biggs represents the Black & Gold on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team and posted strong numbers in his rookie season. He featured in 20 matches and 51 sets in his freshman season, tallying 74 kills, 13 aces, and 97.0 points, hitting .238. Biggs added 27 digs and 19 total blocks on the defensive end.
