Leopards fall to Hawks, 4-0, in quarterfinals of CNE Tournament; Black & Gold clinch fourth straight season of 20 or more wins
DUDLEY, Mass. – In the quarterfinals round of the Conference of New England tournament, the sixth-seeded Wentworth Institute of Technology softball team fell to the fourth-seeded Roger Williams Hawks by a 4-0 score on Thursday afternoon.
The Hawks keep their season alive with a 24-17 overall mark. The Leopards cap their fourth straight season of 20 or more wins with a 20-22 overall record. Wentworth's 2025 season also featured their fourth straight appearance in the conference tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Roger Williams set out to a 2-0 advantage in the third inning as an RBI double by Lucy Maurao plated a runner before a ground out later on in the frame eventually brought her home. Wentworth managed a runner on base with a single by Lauren Trostel in the fourth, but she was left stranded with a pop out.
- The Hawks pushed their lead to 3-0 in the fifth as a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded advanced all three, plating another run. The Leopards again got on the board in the back half of the frame on a double by Lexi Lefkowski, but she was left stranded later on.
- Roger Williams notched an RBI single in the seventh to extend their lead to 4-0. In the back half of the frame, Jess Rowe struck a single for the Leopards but was left stranded with a two-out strikeout.
- In the circle, Rowe fanned a batter and surrendered four hits and three earned runs in five innings. In relief, Julie Schriver gave up two hits and an earned run.
