Softball Battles Hartford in Midweek Doubleheader
The Black & Gold fell in both games against Hartford on Tuesday, dropping to 4-15 this season with a 2-4 conference mark

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology softball team fell to the Hartford Hawks in both games of the Tuesday doubleheader. The Hawks took game one 3-0 before a 9-1 win in game two.
GAME ONE: Wentworth x, Hartford x
Lauren Trostel tallied two hits, including a double. Jasmine Feliciano went 1-2 and Brianna Miller went 1-3 at the plate. Julia Malowitz threw 6.0 innings with three strikeouts and two earned runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Malowitz threw a 1-2-3 first inning before the Leopards went down in order in the second inning. Hartford opened the scoring after a two-run home run by Anita Farkash. Gia Miccio doubled to right and moved to third before scoring on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 for the hosts.
- The Leopards' offense struggled to get going but Malowitz kept them in the game. The sophomore tallied a strikeout in the third and fourth innings to keep the deficit at three runs.
- Wentworth went down in order in the sixth, still trailing by three. Hartford put a runner in the bottom half of the inning, but Malowitz forced two quick outs to end the frame and give the Leopards one more chance in game one.
- Miller got on with a leadoff single up the middle and moved to third after Linnea Carlson reached on a fielder's choice. Both runners were left stranded and the Leopards fell 3-0 in game one.
GAME TWO: Wentworth x, Hartford x
Quincy Bolduc tallied the lone hit for the Leopards. Jasmine Feliciano tallied an RBI and Linnea Carlson recorded one run. Julie Schriver threw 4.0 innings with three strikeouts and Hayley Hines tossed 0.1 inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks opened the scoring in the bottom of the first and held the lead until the third frame. Feliciano grounded out as Carlson came in to score, tying the game 1-1.
- Hartford took the lead again in the bottom of the third, tacking on two runs from a pair of hits from Gia Miccio and Lucy Lembo.
- Alina Weaver hit an RBI double in the fifth to make it 5-1. Adelie Beebe brought in two more runs with a single to left before a two-run home run from Alyssa Edwards gave the Hawks an eight-run edge and the win.
THE SERIES
- Today was the 5th and 6th all-time meeting between the teams.
