Suffolk Cruises Past Women’s Basketball
Mia Luna Zayas scored a team-high 13 points while Taylor Garabedian grabbed 11 rebounds.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's basketball fell to the Suffolk Rams 68-32 on Tuesday night. Mia Luna Zayas led the Leopards offense, scoring 13 points while Taylor Garabedian grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. Elise Ayer and Gianna Gioia each had six rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth got on the board first with a three from Gioia before a 9-0 run put the Rams in front. Tita Rana hit a pair of free throws to end the run, but Suffolk responded with another run, stretching the lead to 20-7 in the final minute of the first quarter. Garabedian's jumper made it an 11-point deficit for the Leopards after 10 minutes.
- Two and a half minutes into the second half, the Rams extended their lead to 20 points. Rana's three free throws were only points for the Leopards at the midway mark of the second quarter. After almost four scoreless minutes, Ella Nixon hit a jumper for Suffolk to make it a 25-point game. Zayas scored five points to end the half as Wentworth trailed 43-19 heading into the break.
- Ayer's free throws and a jumper from Zayas were the points for Wentworth midway through the third, as Suffolk remained in control with a 53-24 lead. Delaney More's free throws in the final seconds put the Rams in front 62-27 through three quarters.
- Suffolk outscored Wentworth 6-5 in the fourth quarter to take the win 68-32. Garabedian and Zayas scored for the Leopards in the final frame. Ayer and Gioia tallied two assists each and Ayer added two steals. The Leopards shot 20% from the field and had 28 turnovers.
THE SERIES:
- Tonight was the 42nd all-time meeting between the two teams.
