Women’s Lacrosse Fall to Nichols
Grace Del Pilar had a goal and an assist; Tessa Wilkie and Maggie McCann scored one goal apiece

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell to the Nichols Bison 13-3 in a Conference of New England matchup on Saturday night. Grace Del Pilar had a goal and an assist, and Maggie McCann and Tessa Wilkie each tallied a goal. Lily Cohen fell to 3-4 with one save in the first half. Megan Cassady made six saves on 12 shots in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- McCann gave Wentworth the lead 19 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal. Macy Abrams tied the game just over a minute later with an unassisted tally. Catherine Vetter and Emma Patton converted on player-up opportunities to give Nichols a 3-1 lead after one.
- Wilkie's tally from Del Pilar made it a 3-2 game just under 90 seconds into the second quarter. The teams went back and forth for the next few minutes before the Bison restored their two-goal lead behind Cali Melo's unassisted goal. Vetter and Kaylyn Bourque got on the board to push the lead to 6-2 before Gabriella Mandirola's late goal gave Nichols 7-2 edge heading into the halftime break.
- Borque scored the next two goals as the Bison's offense continued to roll. Mandirola added two goals in less than two minutes to extend the lead to 11-2. The Bison pinned Wentworth in their own end for much of the third until Del Pilar scored her first goal of the game. Vetter added another in the final two minutes as the Bison led 12-3 after three.
- Cassady made four stops in the third quarter and two saves in the fourth. Mandirola scored the lone goal of the final quarter with an unassisted goal with 40 seconds to play. Nichols won the game 13-3 to improve to 2-0 in league action while the Leopards fall to 0-2 in conference play.
