UNE Downs Women’s Lacrosse
Lily Cohen made 13 saves for the Leopards while Maggie McCann added a goal and an assist

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell 9-3 in a Conference of New England matchup with the University of New England Nor'Easters on Wednesday night. The Leopards fall to 4-8 this season and are 1-6 in league play. Lily Cohen made 13 saves, and Maggie McCann scored one goal and tallied one assist. Aliviah MacCormack and Grace Sweet each scored one goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Nor'Easters scored a player-up goal 90 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Chloe Ryan and Vail Carruthers added goals for the hosts as they took a 3-0 lead with 6:29 to play in the first quarter.
- MacCormack scored an unassisted goal to get Wentworth on the board but two goals from Ryan and Molly Henderson gave UNE a 5-1 edge after one.
- Sweet made it 5-2 with a player-up goal 22 seconds into the second quarter with McCann getting the assist. Two player-up goals from UNE gave the hosts a 7-2 lead heading into the halftime break.
- Sydney Balotin scored the lone goal of the third quarter as the Nor'Easters held an 8-2 lead heading into the final 15 minutes.
- McCann's unassisted goal three minutes into the fourth quarter made it 8-3 but another tally from Ryan pushed the hosts' lead to 9-3. UNE went on to win the game as the Leopards fall to 1-6 in CNE action.
THE SERIES
- Today was the 12th all-time meeting between the teams.
