Kulesza Drops Career-High as Women's Soccer Knots Coast Guard

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Shyla Kulesza of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team (3-2-2) made a career-high 18 stops as the Black & Gold rallied from behind to salvage a 2-2 split with the Coast Guard Academy (0-5-1) in non-conference action Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Coast Guard got off to a fast start, nicking four shots on goal in the opening 8:58 of play until a shot for the Leopards ripped by Erin Londregan in the eleventh minute stopped the flurry and was saved.
• The Bears outshot the Black & Gold 9-3 in the opening frame until Tara Jessen beat Kulesza down the middle to give Coast Guard a 1-0 edge with just 1:10 left in the first half.
• Wentworth responded on the scoreboard in the second half as a shot by Jenny Montville off of a free kick found the back of the net at the 53:32 mark. The Leopards took a 2-1 edge just 4:10 later on a tally by Madelyn Seder as she nicked a shot 11 seconds after a try from Lina Arlander.
• The Bears were awarded two corner kicks in the 66^th minute and found the back of the net in the 67^th as Teal Wasson found the uprights of the goal, tying the score at two-all.
• Kulesza led the draw with 18 saves in between the pipes while Julia Little made three for the Bears.

SERIES NOTES:

• Tonight marked just the second-ever clash between the two teams.
