BOSTON, Mass. – Five student-athletes scored goals while Brianna Reid notched a pair of assists as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team ran its win streak to three with a 5-1 win at Maine-Farmington.
With the win the Leopards improve to 3-0-1, while the Beavers fall to 1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lily Carlson got things going for Wentworth when she tallied her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Reid at the 9:02 mark.
- The Leopards continued to apply pressure and made it a 2-0 game at the 27:29 mark when Katie McTigue set up Lina Arlander for her second of the season.
- Kyra Forsberg nearly made it 3-0 in the 30th minute when her shot off a Reid corner kick was saved by Paige Gonya. Wentworth had three more shots on goal as the first half wound down, as Bryce Bateman, Claire Eigo, and Reid each had solid chances to add to the lead.
- Maine Farmington sliced the lead in half when Natalie Tracy converted a penalty kick at the 54:08 mark.
- Reid recorded her second assist of the game when she sent a corner kick towards the box and Emily Hagen recorded her first marker of the season, making it 3-1.
- In the 70th minute, Brooke Finlay added to the lead with her first of the season, while Bateman tallied an unassisted goal with 6:41 left to round out the scoring.
- Shyla Kuleza made one save in the win. Wentworth had a 24-6 shot advantage and an 8-2 edge on corner kicks.
