EAST BOSTON, Mass. – Three different student-athletes scored goals and Arden Rose made a pair of saves as the Suffolk University women's soccer team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 3-0, in Conference of New England play on Saturday afternoon
With the win the Rams improve to 8-1-2 overall and 3-1-0 in CNE play while the Leopards fall to 5-2-5 (0-2-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- An early bid by the Rams was stuffed by Emily Gamboa Ordini and 46 seconds later Wentworth had its first scoring chance when a shot by Emily Hagen went wide of the mark.
- Scarlett D'Amico got the hosts on the board when she scored at the 13:39 mark. That goal snapped the Leopards' shutout streak of 466:58, which dated back to September 13.
- At the 31:30 mark, the Rams increased their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Lily Goldmann and carried a 2-0 lead into the half.
- In the 77th minute, Hagen put a shot on net that was saved by Rose.
- Suffolk nearly went ahead 3-0 at the 82:10 mark, however, a header was cleared away by a Wentworth back line defender. Off the ensuing corner kick, Avery Porter put the hosts ahead 3-0 when she scored off a Tatum Flynn corner kick.
- Gamboa Ordini made one save in the first half, while Shyla Kulesza made one save over the final 45:00.
- Hagen was the team leader in shots with four.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today was the fifth all-time meeting between the two teams.
