Women's Outdoor Track & Field Shows Marked Improvement at CNE Championship
Leopards improve on their 2024 score by 15 points, tallying 18 points; Laci Santos scores seven points
WENHAM, Mass. – After scoring just three points at the conference championship a season ago, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's outdoor track & field team improved upon its performance at the 2025 Conference of New England Championship. The Leopards scored 18 points to finish eighth at the event hosted by Gordon College.
In addition to the 15-point improvement from a season ago, Wentworth tied one program record and broke three others.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the high jump, Lily Carlson tied her own mark of 1.51M, placing her fifth and earning four points.
- Erin MacLean set a program record in the 800M, finishing with a time of 2:29/16, whihc was good for ninth place.
- Emma Schaumloffel broke her own record in the 5000M, finishing with a time of 20:11.12. This time placed her 15th overall.
- In the shot put, Laci Santos broke her own mark with a best throw of 10.65M. This mark placed her sixth and earned the Leopards three points.
- Santos posted a seventh-place finish in the 100M hurdles (two points) with a time of 16.60 and finished her seven-point meet with a seventh-place (two points) finish in the discus (29.23M).
- Wentworth's 4X100M relay team of Sydney Mercadante, Selma Moutaouakkil, Carlson, and Olivia Holley picked up two points with a seventh-place finish (54.30).
- In the 4X400M relay, Mercadante, Erin MacLean, Anabelle Mendez, and Carlson finished sixth (three points), crossing the line in a time of 4:36.69.
- Tati Sicard picked up an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a top throw of 9.99M, good for one point.
- Ashley Quintal was eighth in the javelin (29.80M), earning one point.

- Selected members of the team will compete at the Division III New England Championships next weekend.
