Schoonmaker Named CCC Rookie of the Week
Schoonmaker tallied 10 kills and a .714 hitting percentage in the Leopards 3-0 sweep against Gordon.
BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman middle hitter Riley Schoonmaker (Montgomery, N.Y.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week. Schoonmaker earns the award for games played from October 10-16.
In a 1-0 week for the Leopards, Schoonmaker tied her career-high total in kills with 10 in a 3-0 sweep against Gordon, handing the conference rival their first CCC defeat this season. She also totaled a career-high hitting percentage of .714.
In 19 games this season, Schoonmaker has notched 87 kills to go along with a .269 hitting percentage and 16 digs. She's also recorded 14 solo blocks, which is the third-most in the CCC.
Wentworth is 11-8, including 4-1 in the CCC, and hosts Curry on Tuesday night.
