Sanders, Zweifler Earn AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Emma Sanders and Amanda Zweifler of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team have earned America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Honorable Mention honors, as announced by the association on Wednesday afternoon.

Sanders earned Conference of New England All-Conference First Team honors and was named the CNE Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. This is Sanders' second career AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention honor after being selected her freshman year. She played 91 sets across 27 matches, leading the team with 298 kills on the year. She averaged 3.27 kills per set and hit at a .299 clip, third best in the league. Sanders led the Leopards and sat fourth in the conference with 354.5 points, averaging 3.9 points per set. She became the fifth player in program history to hit 1,000 career points earlier this season against Hartford. The junior was active on the defensive side as well, tallying 225 digs and 33 blocks this season.

Zweifler was named the Conference of New England Libero of the Year and earned CNE All-Conference First Team honors. She becomes the third player in program history to receive AVCA honors, following Sanders and Leah Rogoz, who earned the accolade in 2019. The senior saw action in 88 sets across 26 matches this season, tallying a team-high 364 digs and 4.14 digs per set, sitting fourth in the conference. She sat second on the team with 44 service aces and eighth in the league with 0.50 aces per set, while adding 41 assists and 45 points. Zweifler became the sixth player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs against Hartford, tallying 11 on the day.

Sanders and Zweifler were two of four CNE representatives on the Region 2 AVCA All-Region list, with Endicott's Hadley Helenbrook earning First Team honors and Hannah McGuire earning Honorable Mention honors.
