Men’s Lacrosse Downs Johnson & Wales
Tony Corrado scored six goals and added two assists as the Black & Gold picked up a CNE win over the Wildcats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Tony Corrado scored six goals and added two assists to lead the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team to an 18-12 win over Johnson & Wales (RI) on Saturday afternoon. Brendan Kroll added five goals and one assist while Tyler Longo tallied four helpers with one goal. Gabe Cobham recorded two goals and two assists, and AJ Smith made eight saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter before Kroll and Corrado scored twice in 31 seconds to make it 3-2. Longo and Corrado scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes of the first quarter to give Wentworth a 4-3 lead after one.
- Cobham scored a goal on Corrado's assist to make it 5-3 before Corrado tallied another goal himself, pushing the lead to three. Matthew Bancroft and Jacob Graham scored two quick goals for the Wildcats to make it 6-5 before Boden Landers tallied his second goal of the season to restore the two-goal lead.
- Bancroft tied the game before Richard Roy put Wentworth back in front with just under two minutes to play. The Wildcats tied the game again six seconds later but Kroll fired in another goal to send the Leopards into the halftime break with a 9-8 lead.
- Wentworth took a 10-8 lead behind another goal from Kroll, but the Wildcats tied the game with two quick goals by Jack Davis and Greyson Doyle. Corrado put the Leopards back in front and Jake Caraluzzi scored his 11th goal of the season to make it 12-10. Corrado added a late goal to give Wentworth a 13-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
- Wentworth started the fourth well with Cobham firing in a man-up goal to make it 15-10. Kroll scored again and Anthony Ballestrini scored his first goal of the season to make it 17-10 Wentworth. Bancroft got one back for the Wildcats before Kroll finished things off with his fifth goal of the game to secure the win for the Leopards.
THE SERIES
- Today was the 2nd all-time meeting between the teams. The Leopards are 2-0 against Johnson & Wales.
