Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Hartford
The Black & Gold fall to the Hawks in the regular season finale, 15-9
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team fell to the Hartford Hawks on Wednesday afternoon in the regular season finale. Gabe Cobham scored two goals and added two assists while Tyler Longo scored two goals. Jaiden Solitro scored his first collegiate goal and Tony Corrado added a goal and an assist. Boden Landers, Brendan Kroll, and Anthony Ballestrini each added one goal and AJ Smith made nine saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks opened the scoring behind Colin Reilly's goal before Cobham's tally a minute later tied the game. Hartford jumped back in front, but Cobham fired in his second goal of the game to tie it up once again.
- Michael Novotny scored a man-up goal to give the hosts a 3-2 lead before Longo's man-up made it a 3-3 game after one.
- Hartford scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second quarter to take a 6-3 lead. Longo and Kroll scored goals around another Hawks tally to make it a 7-5 game with just under five minutes to play in the half.
- Both sides scored in the final two minutes with Ballestrini getting the goal for Wentworth and the Hawks took an 8-6 lead into the halftime break.
- Wentworth's offense struggled to find a rhythm in the third quarter while the Hawks built on their advantage. Two goals in the first four and a half minutes of the frame made it 10-6 before a last-minute tally from Maxton McPhee gave the hosts an 11-6 edge through three quarters.
- Hartford rattled off three straight goals in to open the fourth, stretching the lead to 14-6. Corrado got one back for the Leopards but two more goals from the Hawks pushed their lead to 15-7.
- Landers scored an unassisted goal with 5:34 to play before Solitro scored his first collegiate goal to make it a 15-9 game. Wentworth went 15-16 on clear and had a 14-8 advantage in caused turnovers.

- Today was the 4th all-time meeting between the teams.
