Men's Soccer Battles Endicott in CNE Opener
Leopard fall to Gulls, 2-1; Angel Rojas connects on a penalty kick attempt for Wentworth's tally

BOSTON, Mass. – After a scoreless first half, the Endicott College men's soccer team scored a pair of goals nearly 16 minutes apart and held on for a 2-1 win in Conference of New England action Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Gulls improve to 3-1-0 overall and 1-1 in CNE play while the Leopards fall to 0-3-3 (0-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth had a pair of chances in the 11th minute when David Lemus took a shot that was blocked by the defense. Carlos Jimenez got his foot on the rebound, however, his attempt sailed wide.
- Endicott had a pair of chances late in the half, including one in the 45th minute that was blocked by the Leopard defense.
- A long run down the right side by Ethan Nunes created space for the Gulls offense. Nunes sent a cross to Aidan Sheehan, who put home a shot inside the left post at 51:50 to make it 1-0.
- Endicott had three corner kicks in a span of 52 seconds but Wentworth's defense did not allow a scoring chance. In the 62nd minute, Mustafa Hassan put a shot on net, however, his bid was denied by Brady O'Toole.
- Peyton Luther set up Tim Lynch in the 68th minute to give Endicott a 2-0 lead as he sent a pass from the left side across the box to Lynch.
- At the 72:19 mark, Wentworth made it a 2-1 game as Angel Rojas was fouled in the box. He stepped up to the penalty kick spot and buried the attempt for his first of the season.
- Lemus nearly tied the game in the 86th minute but his attempt from in front was tipped over the crossbar by O'Toole.
- Isaac Chambass made five saves for Wentworth. Endicott had a 14-13 shot advantage, while the Leopards had a 7-5 edge on corner kicks
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today was the 31st all-time meeting between the two teams.
