BRISTOL, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell to the Roger Williams Hawks, 20-3, on Saturday afternoon. Grace Del Pilar, Maggie McCann, and Tessa Wilkie each scored a goal for the Leopards. Lily Cohen fell to 4-9 this season, making one save. Megan Cassady made seven saves, and Makayla Davis made three saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lauren Canata gave the Hawks the lead a minute into the game before Del Pilar tied the game 1-1 a minute and a half later. Roger Williams rattled off six goals in the next four minutes to push the lead to 7-1. Miranda Hayes scored twice in the final five and a half minutes to give the hosts a 9-1 lead after one quarter.
- The Hawks tallied three goals in the first three minutes of the second quarter, stretching their lead to 12-1. Canata added another goal to make it 13-1 before McCann scored an unassisted goal. Hayes' tally made it 14-2 at the half.
- Roger Williams stayed in control, scoring four goals in the third quarter to take a commanding 18-2 lead into the final frame.
- The Hawks tallied a player-up goal with 5:13 to play before Wilkie scored with an assist from Anna Faberlle. Soleil Dubois scored in the final minute to make it a 20-3 final for the Hawks.
