Women's Soccer Dominates Fisher
Five different student-athletes scored goals and the Leopard defense did not allow a shot in a 5-0 win
BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team got five goals from five different student-athletes and had a lock down defensive effort as the Leopards defeated Fisher, 5-0, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Winners of two in a row and unbeaten in their last four (2-0-2), the Leopards improve to 5-1-4, matching their win total from a season ago. The Falcons drop to 2-4-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth applied pressure from the start, including putting a pair of shots high of the mark in a span of 45 seconds. Lina Arlander had the Leopards first shot on net, which came in the fourth minute of run.
- Arlander factored into the first goal of the game when she sent a cross from the right side where Bryce Bateman got a head on the ball and put her bid to the lower left center of the net.
- Wentworth maintained control of the ball in the offensive end for the majority of the remainder of the half and took a 2-0 lead at the 35:46 mark when Rachel Hagerty headed in a corner kick from Isabella Cunha.
- At the 54:03 mark, the hosts went up 3-0 as Lily Carlson notched her seventh goal of the season when she controlled a long pass from Erin Londregan and put a shot inside the left post.
- Hagerty assisted on a Brooke Finlay goal at 72:24 when her feed found Finlay inside the box where she hooked a shot inside the post to make it 4-0.
- A pair of first years teamed up on the Leopards' fifth goal as Grace Nichols sent a pass to Addison Bilodeau, who beat the keeper to the right for her first collegiate goal.
- Wentworth's defense did not allow a shot and had a 33-0 advantage as well as a 12-0 edge on corner kicks. Kyleigh Murphy improved to 2-0 on the season, recording her second shutout of the season.
