Women's Volleyball Rolls Past Moravian, Arcadia
Leopards use pair of 3-0 wins to improve to 10-3 on the season; Eight of Wentworth's 10 wins have been by 3-0 triumphs

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Using a pair of 3-0 wins, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team improved to 10-3 on the season as the Leopards defeated Moravian and Arcadia in a tri-match hosted by Arcadia.
MATCH ONE: Wentworth 3, Moravian 0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Leading 2-1 in the opening set, a service error gave a point to Wentworth, which began an 8-0 run, with Olivia Vaughn serving seven straight points. During the run, Vaughn had an ace, while Kate McLane had a kill. Five Leopard points came by way of Moravian errors. The Greyhounds eventually pulled to 16-6, however, a Riley Schoonmaker kill started a 9-1 run to give the Leopards a 25-7 opening set win. Ava Rocchio had a pair of kills during the run.
- Kate Koliopoulos stepped to the service line to open the second set and served nine straight points, which included helping her own cause with an ace. Schoonmaker and McLane each put down a pair of kills during the set-opening run. Moravian bounced back with a 6-1 run to make it 10-6 but McLane recorded a kill to start a 5-1 spurt and give the Black & Gold a 15-7 lead. Leading 18-11, the Leopards scored five straight points - four of which came with Koliopoulos on the line – to give Wentworth a 23-11 lead and the Leopards took a 2-0 lead with a 25-14 win in the second set.
- After surrendering the first point in the third set, Wentworth rolled off nine straight points, with McLane recording four kills and Rocchio adding three. The Greyhounds scored the next two points but another 9-1 Leopard run put the Black & Gold on top by an 18-4 score. After Moravian made it 18-6 with back-to-back kills, the Leopards closed out the match scoring seven of the next eight points.
- McLane went off for 18 kills, hitting .385 (18-3-29). Emma Sanders added 10 kills and 11 digs, while Rocchio had nine kills and hit .500 (9-1-16). Riley Schoonmaker had five kills and four blocks, Olivia Vaughn had 32 assists and a pair of aces, while Amadan Zweifler had 14 digs.
MATCH TWO: Wentworth 3, Arcadia 0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Arcadia got on the board to open the match with a kill, however, McLane tied the score with a kill and Zweifler served two aces to give Wentworth a 3-1 lead. The Knights scored the next four points and reclaimed the lead, 5-3. McLane ended the spurt with a kill and put Vaughn on the service line where she served nine for nine straight points, which included three kills from McLane and two from Sanders. Using a 5-1 spurt, Arcadia came to within five at 15-10 but a Sanders kill ignited an 8-2 run and the Black & Gold never looked back, taking the first set, 25-14.
- A Sanders kill followed by two aces from Zweifler put Wentworth on top, 3-0, to open the second set. The Leopards increased their lead to 6-1 and eventually pulled ahead 10-3, Scoring six of the next nine points, the Knights made it a 13-9 game before a bad set gave Wentworth a point back and started a 9-1 run which opened the set up at 22-10. Leading 24-13, Ainsley Gregson served an ace to close out the set, 25-13, and give the Black & Gold a 2-0 lead.
- The third set saw Wentworth race out to an 11-2 lead as McLane had a pair of kills and Koliopoulos and Zweifler each served aces. Arcadia took advantage of a pair of errors and added two kills to make it 11-6 before pulling to with four at 15-11 and again at 16-12. Wentworth scored six of the next nine points to begin to pull away, leading 22-15. The Knights scored two of the next three points to make it 23-17 but Wentworth closed the match on an Arcadia service error and a block from Vaugh and Schoonmaker.
- McLane (11) and Sanders (10) combined for 21 of the Leopards' 31 kills, with Schoonmaker adding four and hitting .500 (4-0-8). Zweifler served seven aces also had 11 digs and Vaughn dished out 21 assists.
THE SERIES:
- Wentworth is 2-0 all-time against Moravian. Today was the first meeting between the Leopards and Arcadia.
