Kroll Nets Six as Men's Lacrosse Holds off John Carroll
Brendan Kroll scored six times to help lead the Leopards to a 12-6 win over the Blue Streaks

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Brendan Kroll netted six goals to help pace the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team to its second straight win, a 12-9 triumph over John Carroll on the campus of Colorado College.
With the win the Leopards improve to 3-1 on the season while the Blue Streaks fall to 0-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- John Carroll opened the game with a goal 1:17 into the contest before Wentworth scored the five to take a 5-1 lead. Kroll got things started with a goal with 12:54 left and followed that up with a man-up marker with 9:23 left. Jake Caraluzzi made it 3-1 with a goal with 4:38 left before Kroll netted his third of the quarter with 1:12 left. Off the ensuing faceoff, Keegan Buffa won the draw and found the back of the net.
- A goal by the Blue Streaks with 29 seconds left in the quarter and man-up tally with 12:09 left in the quarter made it 5-3. Kroll ended the spurt with the first of three from the Black & Gold in the quarter as he scored with 11:12 left, followed by Gabe Cobham (7:02) and Tony Corrado (0:03). To make it 8-3 at the half.
- John Carroll cut the lead to 8-4 with a goal with 10:24 left in the third, however, Kroll scored twice – both with assists from Boden Landers – in a span of 4:37 to extend the lead to 10-4. Two Blue Streak goals late in the frame cut it to 10-6.
- Corrado and Colin Ocampo scored nearly three minutes apart to make it 12-6. However, John Carroll scored three to cut the lead to 12-9 late but would get no closer.
- In addition to Kroll's six goals, Corrado had a pair while Landers finished with three assists. Buffa and Colin Blackburn each scooped up six ground balls while Blackburn also caused three turnovers. Buffa and Liam Martin combined to win 14-of-22 draws. A.J. Smith made 11 saves in the win.
SERIES NOTES:
- Today was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
