Men's Soccer Goes on the Offensive in Win over Suffolk

BOSTON, Mass. – A pair of goals from senior Drew DeCoste (Somerset, Mass.) and two assists apiece from senior Griffin Price (Allendale, N.J.) and junior John Dauphin (Yorba Linda, Calif.) helped the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team pick up its second straight win with a 5-2 triumph over Suffolk.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Wentworth wasted little time getting on the board as Treble headed in a throw-in towards the box from Dauphin at 4:23. Just over eight minutes later, the hosts upped their lead to 2-0 when Price sent a pass towards the middle of the box and junior Nathan Gosselin (Hudson, N.H.) put home a shot inside the right post.
• DeCoste scored twice within a span of 3:42 to extend the lead to 4-0. At 19:36, Dauphin sent a pass towards the top of the box where DeCoste found the back of the net and, at 23:18, Price sent a lass to the low left side where DeCoste snuck the ball inside the left post.
• Suffolk got on the board just 1:44 into the second half when, after a Leopard foul, senior Jackson Hines (Bristol, Conn.) sent a free kick from 45 yards out towards the box. Freshman Sunjoon Tenorio (Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands) headed the ball inside the right post.
• Wentworth answered at the 52:51 mark when sophomore Alex Moore (Salem, Conn.) sent a pass across the box where senior Cameron Pacheco (Woburn, Mass.) found the inside of the left post.
• The Rams cut the lead to 5-2 when Tenorio sent a pass to senior James Fisher (Longmeadow, Mass.), who put a shot home.
• Wentworth had a 15-11 shot advantage and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
• Sophomore Nick Barner (Westwood, mass.) made five saves for Wentworth while freshman Kyle Rosa (Chelmsford, Mass.) turned aside four shots in the loss

SERIES NOTES:

• Tonight's game was the first time these two programs have met since September 24, 1998. The series now stands at 5-4-2 in favor of Wentworth and will become an annual occurrence as Suffolk begins play in the Commonwealth Coast Conference next season.
