BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell to the Endicott Gulls 24-2 at Sweeney Field on Friday afternoon. The Gulls improve to 8-2 this season with a 5-0 mark in conference play. Wentworth falls to 4-7 and 1-5 in CNE action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Leopards opened the scoring behind MacCormack's unassisted tally two minutes into the first quarter. Endicott tied the game a few minutes later with Abby Giannetti getting her first goal of the afternoon.
- Emerson Clark scored back-to-back goals to give the Gulls a 3-1 lead with just under five minutes to play in the first. Mia Maczmarek and Leah Black found the back of the net to give Endicott a 5-1 edge.
- Del Pilar scored a player-up goal in the final minute to make it a 5-2 game after 15 minutes.
- The second quarter was all Endicott as the visitors added two goals in the first two and a half minutes of the second quarter to push the lead to 7-2. The Gulls scored five goals in the final five minutes of the half to lead 12-2 at the break. Cohen made six first half saves.
- Endicott stayed in control and scored seven goals in the third to lead 19-2 heading into the final frame. The Gulls tacked on five goals to win the game 24-2. Megan Cassady and Makayla Davis split time in the cage for the Leopards in the second half.
