Women’s Volleyball Clinches Top Seed with Sweep of Nichols
The Leopards close the regular season on a 10-game win streak with a 21-4 record and 9-1 mark on league action. Wentworth will be the #1 seed in the Conference of New England Tournament.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team clinched the top seed in the Conference of New England Tournament with a sweep of Nichols on Saturday afternoon. The Leopards win their 10th straight game and earn their fourth straight sweep. Seniors Riley Schoonmaker, Brenda Soares, and Amanda Zweifler were honored prior to the game for their hard work and dedication to the program.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kate McLane opened the scoring with a kill on the first play of the match. Nichols answered with back-to-back scores to lead before a 7-0 run put Wentworth ahead by six. Another 7-1 run highlighted by two aces from Kate Koliopoulos and two kills from Emma Sanders put the Leopards in control in the first set with a 15-3 lead. Melina Bezati and Alyssa Morse each had two kills in a 6-1 run for the Bison, cutting the lead to seven. Wentworth closed the set with a 9-4 run, capped off by a McLane kill to take the first set 25-13.
- The second set saw the teams exchange points with Morse's kill getting Nichols within one early on before Schoonmaker tallied three straight kills to put the hosts in front 8-4. The Bison battled back to tie the game at 11-11 before taking a 14-13 lead. Wentworth answered with a 7-0 run behind two aces from Sanders and kills from Schoonmaker and Kinsey Lutz. Two aces from Lutz and two attack errors closed the set, giving the Leopards the 25-15 win in set two.
- Nichols scored the opening point of the third set, but a 15-0 run from the Leopards put the hosts in complete control. Clairissa Taylor tallied four kills in that stretch with Sanders and McLane combining for seven kills. The Leopards stretched the advantage to 20-5 late before McLane and Schoonmaker each had a pair of kills to close the set 25-6 and give Wentworth the sweep.
- Sanders and McLane had 10 kills each while Schoonmaker added nine. Taylor tallied four kills, one dig, and one block assist. Olivia Vaughn returned to the team and recorded a team-high 34 assists and 14 digs.
